The negative Impacts of UCMs on core elements of SDGs

Mr. President:
The negative impact of unlawful unilateral sanctions severely undermines fundamental human rights. The sanctions restrict access to essential medicines, medical equipment, and healthcare services, directly violating the right to health guaranteed under international human rights law. By impeding economic activities and disrupting social infrastructures, sanctions exacerbate poverty and obstruct sustainable development efforts, violating the right to development and the imperative to eradicate poverty worldwide. Furthermore, sanctions damage education systems by limiting resources, restricting exchange programs, and creating economic hardships that force children and youth to abandon schooling, thus violating the right to education.
The interconnected nature of these rights shows that unilateral sanctions constitute a blockade against the full realization of human dignity and social progress. Their extraterritorial application disregards international legal norms and harms vulnerable populations, deepening inequalities and suffering.
We commend Special Rapporteur Professor Alena Douhan for her six years of outstanding dedication to investigating and reporting on the human rights implications of UCMs. Her rigorous work has illuminated these critical issues on the global stage. It is our sincere hope that her successor continues this important mandate with equal commitment, advancing international efforts to uphold human rights and justice.

تاثیرات منفی تحریم‌های یکجانبه غیرقانونی به‌شدت حقوق بنیادین بشر را تضعیف می‌کند.

این تحریم‌ها دسترسی به داروهای ضروری، تجهیزات پزشکی و خدمات بهداشتی را محدود کرده؛ تحریم‌ها فقر را تشدید کرده. علاوه بر این، تحریم‌ها به سیستم‌های آموزشی آسیب می‌رسانند، کودکان و نوجوانان را مجبور به ترک تحصیل می‌سازد؛ بنابراین حق بر آموزش را نقض می‌کنند.

ماهیت پیوسته این حقوق نشان می‌دهد که تحریم‌های یکجانبه، مانعی اساسی برای تحقق کامل کرامت انسانی و پیشرفت اجتماعی هستند.
